Written by on May 9, 2022

Kendrick dropped a new music video for his song ‘The Heart Part 5’.

It featured ‘Deepfakes’ of well-known people such as: Kanye West, OJ Simpson, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle. Many fans are talking about the verse that many seem to think is from Nipsey Hussle’s perspective. Many people talking about this heartfelt tribute to the late rapper. Many are reflecting on this verse, some saying that it feels like a sense of closure. Many are also taking a deep dive into the song and finding other meanings from it.

“To my brother, to my kids, I’m in Heaven. To my mother, to my sis, I’m in Heaven. To my father, to my wife, I am serious, this is Heaven.” – Kendrick Lamar (The Heart Part 5)

Music moves us in many ways, and paying tribute through art and music that people can watch and reflect on can make a powerful impact, and we saw just that with the reaction to Kendrick’s music video. Music can carry on somebody’s legacy and oftentimes help us remember them. Music can also be very subjective, allowing the listener to interpret meaning and emotion through their own experiences.

Kendrick’s new album ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers’ is set to release on May 13, 2022. We are excited to see his artistry in action again after many years.

Music Reviewer Anthony Fantano also shared his thoughts on the song:
