considered, an artist must have their music out for at least 25 years. This isn’t the first time Missy Elliot has made history, though!

Some of Missy Elliot’s achievements include:

  • 5 Grammy Awards
  • More than 30 million records sold worldwide
  • 200+ songs written and produced,
  • First female rapper with six platinum albums,
  • First female rapper to win the MTV Video Vanguard Award,
  • BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award and VH1’s Hip Hop Honors.

In an Instagram post Missy Elliot said: 

I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work that many of us WOMEN contribute to MUSIC.
