Resolutions for the New Year

New Year’s Resolutions:

Hey y’all! It’s ya gurl Amerykah Jones and I’ve taken over the newsletter this time for a chance to reconnect with you and share with you some of the great things taking place here at THE DROP. As you know, 2020 was a difficult year, full of challenges and journeys that many of us would rather forget. COVID-19 changed how we communicated and the lack of personal interaction led to repercussions that are sure to be felt for many years to come.

However, the entire year wasn’t a wash. Awesomeness happened in how we, as communities, stretch and flexed technology to embrace change. Apps like ZOOM and Clubhouse changed how we engaged and shared with each other. As we jump into 2021 with a new White House administration, COVID-19 vaccines, and even more cool tech to usher us into the new year, I think about the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. With all honesty, the concept of making resolutions may be played out like my Sidekick, but they still give us a vibe of looking back and remembering the influence these promises may have had in our lives. So, for 2021, ‘Merykah isn’t resolving anything, but evolving instead. Evolving into someone who is working on herself and how she shows up for others. I am hoping that 2021 presents our global culture the opportunity to take a collective breath and a step into become the best versions of ourselves.
